Nebras Power and Qatar Holding Signed an MOU to Create an Alliance with Japanese Companies to Study the Development of a Power-Generating Project in Turkey

Nebras Power Q.S.C In partnership with Qatar Holding has signed on February 20, 2015 a memorandum of understanding with the Japanese companies: Mitsubishi Corporation, Marubeni and Chubu Electric Power and to study the possibility of developing Afsin Elbistan project in the Republic of Turkey.

The signing ceremony was held in Tokyo during the Qatari-Japanese Economic Forum, on the sidelines of a visit by His Highness Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani - Emir of Qatar - to Japan. Nebras Power was represented by Mr. Fahad bin Hamad Al Mohannadi - Chairman and Mr. / Khalid Mohammed Jolo, the company's CEO.

The Qatari-Japanese consortium is targeting to evaluate a projects include the development, financing, construction, operation, maintenance lignite power plants. The consortium is seeking to offer the latest types of technology available in this area and at competitive prices to reach an agreement with the Turkish government to implement the project.

Brief About Afsin Elbistan Project

The project stands in Afsin Elbistan area, 600 kilometers southeast of the capital of Turkey - Ankara. The project comprise of developing the lignite mines located in the project area, where the extracted lignite will be used as fuel for power plants to generate electricity. The planned power capacity to be built is around 4,500 megawatts. The project will contribute to meet the needs of the Republic of Turkey of electricity, and will also have a positive impact on the development of the area where the project is located and the surrounding areas.
